Upright Creature Staffs 2013

Image
"Last year around June time, me and two other friends were supposed to go to a 24-hour basketball event for charity. Us being lads we decided to skive and go and sit down the lane in my car, and do what typical teenage lads do. "Anyway, so me and two others were parked up in a little pull-in, down a lane in Gentleshaw not too far from Burntwood, Cannock. We were parked in this pull-in facing the road, with trees either side of us, and a gated-field behind. It was around two o’clock in the morning and we had the interior light on in the car, when my friend in the front passenger seat said he could see something moving outside, on the right side of the car. "We turned off the interior light to get a better look and  could definitely see something moving in the trees in the distance . Our first thoughts were a person or an animal, all we could see was something large moving around. This thing must have been about 10-15m away. (I didn’t exactly have time to measure!) I turne...

Little Hairy Men of Slitting mill staffs 1975

Image
In 1975 a young couple Barry and Elaine are returning from a Christmas party in the early morning with their two children asleep in the back seat and driving towards their home in Slitting Mill (Staffs). The car stalled and Barry, then in his twenties jumped out to check the engine, while he was returning to his wife she saw ‘something’ that the then young couple later described as ‘trolls’. At that point, however, their plans were thrown into complete and utter disarray. According to Barry, Elaine let out a loud scream, terrified by the sight of a small figure that ran across the road in front of them at a high rate of speed. She explains: “I just about saw it at the last second, and then another one followed it, and then a third one. The best way I can describe them to you is like a hairy troll or something like that. We had some moonlight and they were like little men, but with hunchbacks and big, hooked noses and not a stitch on them at all. Not a stitch, at all; just ha...

The Cator Park Figure

Image
It was my friends 16th, and we were all in Cator Park (a park in South East London, near Surrey). Anyways I go over to some bushes that lead off to houses to take a piss (I had been drinking a lot lol). Anyways Im standing there and I hear a russle, and then a garden light turned on in one of the houses infront of me. Naturally I look up in the direction of the light and I see something moving towards me, it was HUGE, a considerable amount taller than me (And Im about 6 foot 3/4). It was considerably hairy, I could see its outline in the light. It also had a very hard heavy breathing, and it had a nasty smell. Im of course bricking it so I run back over to my friends and franticly ask them if we can leave, Im on the verge of tears because Im so scared, one of my mates sits me down and kept asking me "Matthew are you alright whats wrong??" because I rarely get so scared I cry. Then my other friend was looking over at the bushes and she suddenly said really loudly "Oh my g...

Lurchers Crag Footsteps and a feeling of being followed

Image
Peter Densham, a local forester and climbing enthusiast, decided one day in 1945 to climb Ben Macdui and arrived at the summit cairn around noon. It was a clear day and the panorama from Britain’s second highest mountain that day was breathtaking. However, the mist soon descended and he decided to finish off his lunch and make his way back. Knowing the hill well, he was in no way disturbed by the mist and poor visibility.  Setting off he soon heard the familiar ‘crunch, crunch’ on the plateau behind him. Intrigued rather than afraid he went to investigate, thinking of the Grey Man and the paranoia of others. As he got closer he too was suddenly accosted by a sense of foreboding and his desire to flee the mountain became intense. Without even thinking, instinct took over and he was soon running hell for leather to the valley below, barely missing the steep cliffs of Lurchers’ Crag. Peter Densham was left shaken, and utterly convinced that something unnatural stalked the mountains. ...

Lairg Ghru follwed and spooked

Image
Wendy Wood, one of the pioneers of the Scottish National Party and about as rounded and rational person you could ever meet, was gripped by a blind panic when walking through the Lairg Ghru Pass. After hearing a strange noise, and thinking it might have been a fallen climber she went to see if she if she could help. Suddenly, she was overwhelmed by the feeling that she was being followed by someone, or something, with an enormous stride. Spooked, she took off down the hill, not stopping until she reached the Whitewell Farm, some five miles off. Wendy Wood knew nothing of the legend. Others did know of it, and dismissed it out of hand.

The Caingorm Running man legend

Image
Locals tell stories of: Running man a hairy creature that runs alongside cars.An extremely sasquatch-like creature, seperate from the greyman, which has been a part  of Scottish folklore and traditions for centuries. One sighting describes a creature whose face was "human... but not human". It  is known for it's preference for running, as opposed to walking, and has a tendency to run alongside cars to look inside the  windows. With a height of 1309 metres (4296 feet), Ben MacDhui is the highest peak in the Cairngorms and the second highest peak in Scotland. Many mountaineers are certain that this region of the Cairngorms harbour a malign humanoid entity known locally as 'Fear Liath Mor' (meaning big grey man) that is grey in colour, big, and fearsome in appearance. The legends tell of these beings stalking anyone who trespassed into their territory. Actual sightings of the Big Grey Man have been rare, but "eye-witness" descriptions of his appearance d...
