Ever felt like you can’t see the wood for the trees? That common saying owes its existence to the idea of being lost in a forest, where everything looks the same no matter which direction you’re facing. Thick, dense forests are reminders of how awesome the power of nature can be when it’s left unchecked. A lush forest can provide homes for exotic creatures, or hiding places for buried treasure. Here are just some of the most surprising secrets that forests have been keeping from us.

Here at BBR I am pleased to say we have had a number of American and Canadian members join our Research group, and today we added the first international pins to the map. The new members like most of us are looking for reports of creatures in their State or City. One of the areas I wanted to take a look at is an Island just of the coast of Washington State. Bainbridge Island is host to a number of Sasquatch/Bigfoot sightings, if you are from the area you will no doubt recognise the places mentioned. From bountiful food resources, to areas of Wild Forest, it is no wonder there are so many reported sightings on the Island. I was able to trace around 22 accounts starting from the 1950''s. #BBR #BBRUK Most people in the UK have seen or know of someone who has seen a large cat wandering our fields and woodlands for well over four decades now.  Around 17000 reports were made in Staffordshire alone between 2010 and 2018. Lately you can stick a pin in the map and there will be a report of one or many large cats roaming the area. Argentina's wave of cattle mutilations continued without let-up last week. Dead and mutilated cows were found in nine provinces ranging from Entre Rios in the north to Chubut in the south. The mutilation total has reached 170. On Friday, June 21, 2002, in southern Buenos Aires province, farmers discovered the carcass of a 9-month-old, 250-kilogram Aberdeen Angus calf showing signs of mutilation. At Digue, north of Bahia Blanca, the toll has risen to nine dead and mutilated bovines. At La Pampa, 6 miles southeast of Abramo, a shorthorn cow was found with its jaw, tongue and udders mutilated, according to Edgar Suarez, the officer in charge of the local constabulary. Cattle rancher Oscar Alvarez, the animal's owner, also reported an Aberdeen Angus and a Hereford cow, both mutilated in a similar fashion. A mystery creature is haunting the streets of Texas . Described by some terrified witnesses as a monkey, by others as a chimpanzee and as “anything’s possible” by police, a sense of apprehension is spreading. The unidentified humanoid has been repeatedly spotted in the city of Santa Fe , with one witness claiming they saw the beast attempt to snatch a cat. The alarm was first raised in the early hours of Monday, when a woman named Patricia de la Mora called the police to say she had seen some kind of primate causing pandemonium on the corner of 24th and East Bellaire streets in the south west of the city. She had apparently been woken up after midnight by thunder and lightning, and after urging her husband to look out of the window when she heard “strange noises”, eventually got out of bed herself, opened the curtains and was “paralysed by fear”. “I look out the window and I see it was in there. It was a monkey, a big one,” she told US news outlet  KVUE .

Camping and out door leisure is making a very real come back here in the UK. The Camping and Caravan club's numbers have doubled over the last few years. As more people realise the beauty on their doorsteps they want to get out and visit our National Parks and Ares of Natural Beauty.  Sadly with the increase in numbers the prices of the camp sites are also souring. Leaving the only other option open to some is to wild camp or to sleep in their vehicles overnight and move onto a new area tomorrow or the next day.  Many of our rural car parks can be havens of safety when caught out in a an area you are unsure of.  There are many farmers and land owners now bridging the gap by allowing people to pitch on their fields and land for a small fee in exchange for some home comforts to make your stay easier, but this doesn't suit everyone, myself included on some occasions. Deb I only contacted you after much toing and froing as I am a wild camper and quite well known in some circles,they didn't call it ‘wild’ camping back when I started as a boy, it was just a night off the farm in those days, my Family ran a beef and dairy farm and it was long hours for not much pay. We always had food and plenty to barter with but ready cash was always in short supply. In the countryside people hunt their food still and back then it was more prevalent, pigeon, duck, rabbit and hare were a welcome catch. Now it's frowned upon by some, but I was brought up alongside nature and one day I will return to it. It's all just a circle. I would go off with my Brothers or my Friends from around the area, we would head up on the Peaks and Down around the Reservoir where there was always animal sign and the stream was well stocked so we never went hungry.  Some of the lads tailed off and stopped coming altogether, some I still see for the odd pint now and then, but slee...
