Woodseave Staffordshire Upright Bear 1943

Image
From the Old Fortean files:  A story that surfaced to me in 2000 and that most definitely deserves a mention here came from a man who declined a personal meeting with me and even declined to reveal his name; but who, in a lunchtime telephone-call, briefly told me how he had personally heard of an encounter with a strange creature at the height of the Second World War. According to the tale, the man was a twelve-year-old in 1943 when a young evacuee – a boy of about nine or ten who hailed from somewhere in London - came to stay with his immediate neighbors: in Woodseaves, a village in Staffordshire that has been the scene of more than a few man-beast-type encounters since the 1800s. The pair would regularly play in the woods and fields around Woodseaves during the summer of that year; however, a degree of dark melancholy overcame the young Londoner when he confided in my caller that he had overheard the husband and wife he was staying with quietly discussing one night...

The Pig/man of Pye Green Staffordshire 2004

Image
I was contacted today by a gentleman who lives in the Walsall area concerning a sighing of the pig-man that dates back to 2006. It's an interesting story I'm sure you'd all like to hear. For that reason, I have chosen to publish it unedited here today. Please feel free to comment or get in touch if you have questions or similar sightings to report. The man concerned will see this blog post and most likely answer any comments you might make. I found this to be a rather compelling story, and I'm certain you will too. See you on the other side Oh yeah..... this guy's also seen some UFOs on Cannock Chase, but I'll let him fill you in on that. It was about 2004, three of us decided to camp on Cannock Chase. Myself another lad and a lady. We decided to bike there, the lady overestimating her ability. Took us hours to get there. When we arrived it was dark and we forgot the torches. We were by the big communication tower at Pye Green. We say three flashing lights abo...

Is Ballyboley Irelands Cannock Chase ?

Image
It seems no matter where you are in the world, there will be in each country a hot spot or cluster of paranormal type activities, whether it be wild man, Bigfoot, ufo's and ghosts, to banshees and little folk, and Bogart's and pad foot, while there is no explanation for these events to be clustered into one area, when checking the paranormal maps one or two stand out, in england it is Cannock Chase and its surrounding areas where many accounts and strange encounters are recorded, which brings me to Balleyboley Forest Ireland, situated in the north east of Ireland in County Antrim. this forest is known as one of \irelands most haunted forests, with hints of druids and loud howls and screams, wood knocks and invisible stone throwers, it is the place to study when examining Ireland's paranormal accounts. I have included some of the reports below for your pleasure. During the 15th, 16th and 17th century, as many as thirty people went missing around the area. Shadowy figur...

Giant serpant spotted on Cannock Chase 7 May 2009 by Mike Lockley

Eyewitnesses claim to have spotted a 14 foot snake lurking in undergrowth - and paranormal investigator Nick Redfern believes it’s more than a monster mutant and may have links with the Loch Ness Monster. May 2009 :a rambler contacted The Post - which has also brought you accounts of panthers and even a Bigfoot type creature on the Chase - to say he’d spotted a python-sized creature near the German Cemetery. He described the creature as brightly coloured with a powerful head. It’s not the first time walkers have been startled by a reptile more than three times the size of resident adders and grass snakes. In March, 2006, the Birmingham Post carried reports of a 14 foot snake moving through bracken near Birches Valley. The report stated: “The beast had a powerful head and colouring that stood out sharply against the greens and blues of the bracken.” Mr Norman Dodd had an even more bizarre encounter in the scorching hot summer of 1976. In a later interview with Nick Redfern, Mr Do...

Grey Huminoid Birmingham 2014

Image
Jumping Grey Thing Location: Birmingham (West Midlands) - Icknield street, Hockley Type: Other Date / Time: April 2014 Further Comments: A couple in their car watched as a grey humanoid creature jump across the road, kangaroo-like, although seemingly gaining momentum by swinging its arms. The entity stopped in the road and looked at the car before turning and moving back into the grounds of a cemetery. Although very urbanised area now, i did find out that the area was once called The Forest of Arden and covered an area stretching from stratford on avon to the south and tamworth in the north and was cut through by the old roman road known as the ickneild way.

Compton Woods Berks Jan 2016

Witness Account: Phil.  i was out today in the car, a normal everyday trip, i still had my work gear on, and the dog with me, it was cold and windy but a really nice day, so i figured a walk in the woods would do us both the world of good. so we set off on the short 2 mile ride.  i pulled up in the car and went to get the dog out and she refused, she’s never done this before and it seemed strange but i just thought sod it to be honest, i had my model Rock Crawler truck in the car and decided to just spend some time using that in the hopes she would change her mind. the woods is split by a country road with an offshoot that is sided by big banks. i usually go on one side of it but this time i decided to go in the opposite direction. i was running the truck up and down and generally having fun, for about 10 mins still in my hi-vis jacket and cap and the trucks whirring away making a racket, so i keep my earphones in and just decide to stay out for 20mins or so, and unwind. Th...
