The Shadow Man Visits, Sleaford 2012 - Finished

The witness in this cases contacted me back in January of 2021 to share a horrid experience that took place in her home in the Grimsby area of Yorkshire.

DM: "Hi Debbie, I’ve been listening to your YouTube videos and wondering whether you’d be interested in hearing of my experience. It was sometime in 2012, I arrived home in Sleaford with my youngest daughter after visiting my other daughter and her husband in Grimsby. We’d been gone a few days and my son who was 20 at the time was looking after our 3 cats.

When I got to the front door I noticed it wasn’t locked and all the lights in the house were on. I went inside and looked upstairs to see if my son was there as I was going to ask why all the lights were left on like that. As I looked up there was a dark figure in the bathroom at the top of the stairs, I called my son’s name but something was odd, I knew it wasn’t him. I didn’t take my eyes off this black figure, (no features just pure black) and started walking upstairs towards it. I felt angry that it was in my house I wasn’t scared at all.

As I walked up the stairs it moved across the bathroom, sort of gliding slowly from one end to the other end of the bathroom. I kept my eyes on it but as I neared the top of the stairs, the banister blocked my view so when I got to the top it had gone. I checked the bedrooms and my 3 cats were clearly terrified, they were scrambling to get under the bed and one of them  jumped right across the bed absolutely terrified. I’ve never seen them like that.

The front and back door were both unlocked and every light in the house was on. My son later told me he had definitely locked up before going to work and there were no lights left on when he left.

My youngest daughter who was 16 at the time went in her bedroom and saw that her posters were on the floor and everything that was on her bed had been shoved in a pile on the floor.
She tried to entice the cats from under the bed with treats but they wouldn’t come out, which is really unlike them, they normally will do anything for a treat.

The following morning I went to get out of bed and on the rug beside my bed was a monkey key charm with what looked like a whole pack of hair clips individually hooked around the string.  Both the monkey charm and hair clips were previously in my bedside drawer, there would be no way of them being moved from the draws without waking me, it would require a lot of rummaging.

One thing I found strange about this is that when I came in the front door and looked up, only then did the figure start slowly moving. It seemed like it waited for me to enter the house and look up as if it wanted me to see it, even turning on all the lights.

It was years later I heard about other people seeing this black figure or hat man. I’ve never seen it before or since so I’m baffled as to why it came that day. I hope my story might be of interest to others as most cases I’ve heard are at night or during lucid dreaming. This was around 4 in the afternoon  although it was dark as it was winter time.

 I lived in the house for 13 years when it happened and about 6 months after the shadow man incident we moved as we were wanting to live near my daughter in Grimsby. What was also odd is when we were moving, (in the November) everything went perfect and I mean perfect there were so many coincidences and things fitting into place that it was like something was helping us to move. But it was all good. I wonder if it was connected.

 

My son said he had a friend over when I was out (same year) and his friend went to the bathroom and when he came back downstairs he looked shook up, my son asked what was up and he said he looked in the mirror and saw his face but it wasn’t his face and it wasn’t mirroring what he was doing. Some of his other friends said the street was known to be haunted but that was the only incident I had.
