A Possible Shapeshifter - Update On The Monkton Case

I recently released a video on the strange case of the Woman killed by Foxes in Monkton on the North West coast of Scotland. That video brought in a flurry of information from locals in the area. The information shared is startling to say the least. Full Story

Sarah B - "Debs! We were on a night drive with the kids, going through Monkton. An animal ran across the road that I could only describe as looking like a huge retriever? I didn’t believe it was someone’s pet it was absolutely huge! I’ve never heard anyone else mention such an animal. It was by the Pow Burn on Tarbolton road if that’s any use to anyone

A local man stated "There are stories of a ghost of a gorilla  in the castle area, the road up to the castle is called Yeti road or ave."

An old miner from Ayr. Said he seen a huge black animal on the Monkton roundabout between 80/90s.

And then there is this case, where a young girl on a sleep over has a terrifying encounter:

BBR Witness: "Me and my best friend had the idea of camping out in her garden summer of 94'. I was 14. She lived in a big house about 1.5 / 2 miles from Monkton village. The house was in the countryside with woods down one side and curving round the bottom. Huge garden. Honestly it was idyllic.

Her dad found his old tent and we set about putting it up. Well we helped while her dad put it up. We put pillows and quilts inside as we didn't have sleeping bags and we asked her dad to take us to the shops for sweets and crisps, we were going to make a night of it.

So we were gone maybe an hour or so as we went into Ayr. When we got back we went in the house and headed through the house to come out the back door to the tent. When we got outside we immediately saw that the tent was wrecked. We just stood there and her dad was like what's wrong with you two. Then he saw the tent. It was all torn up. Big tears and rips in it. Tattered cloth. And this was an old tent. It wasn't cheap crap. It had kind of collapsed inwards on one side and we walked over to look at it. My friends dad studied the rips and was looking closely at them and then said to us "best go inside girls". I remember we were annoyed as it was a lovely day but we did as he said. We went inside and sat in the big lounge kind of sulking that our plans had been coshed. When her mum came in from work we told her what happened to the tent and she was sympathetic. She said it was probably the local yobs from the nearby village that had done it out of sheer badness.

So that night we stayed in. We had been looking forward to camping out but we just camped out in her room instead, ate our sweets and watched a film. We did chat about it but we didn't think anything sinister, we just agreed with her mum.

So we went to bed. In the middle of the night we were woken up by this almighty racket. Her dogs were going absolutely ballistic downstairs, she had a Labrador and a German shepherd. The dogs were in the lounge directly below us. They were crashing about barking and it was so loud. We opened her bedroom door and her mum and dad came rushing out their room and said get back in. We waited for them to go downstairs and then we opened the bedroom door again to listen. Her dad was shouting let them out let them out and we were saying to each other what the fuck is going on (sorry for the language). So the dogs were let out and they were barking and snarling and going crazy round the back of the house. We quickly went along to her big sisters room as it faced the back garden, she was away on holiday.  We looked out the window and we could see the dogs chasing something past the fish pond and down towards the woods at the bottom of the garden. It was a tall dark shape running on two legs. Slightly hunched. Running very fast. We both saw it. The security lights were on but by the time they were past the pond it wasn't as easy to see as there was bushes and cherry trees and the security lights didn't reach that far down. Her dad was standing on the decking with a shotgun just below us and we were scared in case he looked up and saw us so we snuck back down the hall and into her room.

We were nervous and scared but kind of excited too. She thought it must have been an intruder. I asked her if her dad would have shot him and she said probably not but just wanted to scare him. We waited for her mum and dad to come back upstairs and it seemed like ages. When we heard the stairs creak we opened the door and it was her mum. We asked her what had happened and was it a burglar and she said yeah it must have been a burglar but the dogs chased him off. She said that dad was going to sleep downstairs just to be on the safe side and we were to stay in the room. She asked if we wanted to go in with her but we were like no it's fine.  Although we didn't sleep for the rest of the night we were too worked up.

In the morning we went downstairs and her mum and dad were talking quietly in the kitchen. We were asking questions about the night before and her dad said it was obviously a prowler looking for houses to break into. He said he would ring the police and let them know.

So later that day just before I was going home a guy arrived at the house, we saw him arriving. I asked my friend who it was and she said it was the farmer who lived down the road. He spoke to my friends dad for a bit then left. Being nosey teenagers we asked what he wanted and her dad said oh he's having some trouble with foxes getting into his chickens. I did think why would he come and tell him? They didn't have any animals other than the dogs.

On the way home we actually drove past his farm. As we were driving past we could see him on his tractor and trailer. The trailer had a few dead sheep in it. There legs were sticking up and it gave us the creeps. My friend said to her dad oh dad look at the poor sheep. Her dad just said aye it's bad when you loose sheep, he never mentioned the chickens. Nothing else happened. The intruder never came back and things just went back to normal.

So cut to a few weeks later and we're back at school. A girl in my class came from a family of farmers. Their farm was just outside my village where I stay. I was talking to her about what she did over the summer. Just the normal stuff. She said that she didn't go to the local cattle show as her calf had been killed a few weeks back. I asked her what happened to it and she said it had been attacked and it's head was nearly ripped off. I was shocked and I could see she was really sad about it. I asked was it a fox and she said don't be daft a fox can't do something like that. She kind of hesitated and said "dad said it was a shapeshifter". She said he had seen it running up the field and its like a half man half wolf. I was getting pretty freaked by this time. She said her calf wasn't the only animal killed. There was the farmer on the road to Monkton and his sheep had there throats torn out (obviously the ones we saw in the trailer). Another farmer had cows half eaten with there faces ripped off. I didn't know what to think and then I remembered the tent and the intruder and the farmer appearing the next day. A shapeshifter. I was absolutely petrified thinking what if we had been in the tent that night? I mean the tent was destroyed during the day! It scared the living daylights out me thinking what could have happened at night! It never felt idyllic after that. It was always a very scary place to me. They moved away the following year. But there's something weird about that whole area Deb. Could it have been the same thing I saw 5 years later? Too many strange goings on for my liking.

I'm sure today is the anniversary of the woman found dead in Monkton. December 19th. Poor woman. God knows what she went through that night in those fields. Alone. Makes my blood run cold.

One thing I feel is important to note is that four other local people, two males and two females have also gone missing from 2020 to 2022 and one of the men went missing just a week before the lady was found in the fields. Now if that's not fishy, I don't know what is.
