An Unknown Howling, The Grim Reaper and The Invisible Watcher. 96 - 2000
Phil Trough: "Hi Deb, I am a listener to your YouTube channel and I want to report some experiences to you that happened when we were living in Spain. There are a couple of incidents that took place when I was with my sister and our friends. I was born in 1991, my sister is slightly older and was born in 1985.
Around 1996 my mum and dad bought an apartment in La Kala de Mijas, Spain. It was owned until 2005 but we would stay in this particular apartment every year until around 2000. We were there when Princess Diana died which I vividly remember.
The apartments first floor had an extension that was built as a third bedroom which would serve as my bedroom during our stays. Often I would feel uneasy in there. As I looked out on the far horizon I was surrounded by rocky Spanish hills and mini mountains. On a regular basis I would hear the distant but distinct sound of howls, like how a dog or wolf would but in a different type of way. Not a normal way. This happened for years. I told my parents who said it was probably the sound of wind, however in my 33 years, I’ve never heard any sort of distinctive wind like this. Ever. It was howling. I’d often feel uncomfortable in this apartment. It just felt uneasy in my opinion, like the atmosphere was uneasy at times as if something else was there.
In the summer of 97/98 there was an unexplained incident that took place.
The guest bedroom had two single beds in it and there was a gap in between them for necessary space (photo attached but some differences that I’ll explain later) but during this summer my sisters friend was staying over. This meant that they were in the guest bedroom. One morning my sister doesn’t believe in ghosts and WOULD NOT EVER LIE about this type of thing got up and said to my parents ‘last night I saw a black figure in my room.’ This obviously alerted my parents but I was very intrigued because I felt like the apartment was haunted based on my previous experiences.
I questioned immediately if she had seen someone stood outside of the window, you know a potential weirdo looking in at kids. But she insisted no it was in the room because she could see the entire ‘thing’ and it was standing in between her and her friend. She said the ‘thing’ was staring at her friend. She said during the incident she was entirely awake, terrified, not dreaming, too scared to put the light on and even put the bed cover over her head in the hope it would make whatever it was disappear but it did not do so.
My sister said this lasted for at least 5 minutes during which she could see it was a hooded black figure that ‘was the grim reaper’ and she still states this now. She doesn’t believe in ghosts, isn’t interested in the paranormal at all and wouldn’t lie. She still insists she saw the grim reaper.
On another occasion in 2002 I had some friends round and they experienced this with me.
It was at least 1am and this was during the time when we would rent that apartment out and stay in another apartment we eventually bought in the same complex. The living room of the apartment looked out towards the swimming pool and there were friends staying in the apartment. Me and two mates were fucking around making noise outside (daft kids but not deliberately) and this woke up one of the tenants. She came to the window and told us to shut up, which we did do. We sat down on the wall opposite and underneath the living room window. Anyway about 10 minutes later I happened to look up at the window and, on its own, the curtains started moving. It was the left side curtain as I looked at it and there was nobody there. You could see something pulling back the curtain but the range of motion/pull meant you should’ve seen a hand but whatever was doing this was invisible. I told my two mates who saw it as well. It happened at least twice (the curtain moving) possibly three times. Something was pulling back the curtain as if it was trying to look at us but there was nothing there. It pulled the curtain back maybe 2 inches, really slowly and all occasions. The window was completely shut and there was no wind that could have caused it.
Photos attached are a carbon copy of the guest bedroom, except our guest bedroom was on the first floor so the window had nothing behind it except in front of it were metal ‘right to left pull’ blinds to stop anyone smashing the window and potentially climbing in (if you’ve been to Spain you’ll know the type I mean)
Photo of the wall I was sat (behind the bars) on for incident 3 which is taken from the perspective of the ground floor apartment underneath us looking out.
"In fact I’ll tell you another story about that apartment complex that happened to my mum. This happened in the other apartment we owned. Sleep paralysis. She had a dream in which she woke up and could see a man trying to break into the apartment’s terrace doors (it was on the ground floor, so no balcony just a garden terrace).
In the dream she continually tried to wake my dad up over and over but she couldn’t do so. She was unable to move during this experience and was getting more and more scared as the man was trying to force the doors open.
Eventually the man indeed did force the doors open and gained access to the apartment. Then the man was trying to force the door open to my Parents room (there were two doors, one wooden and then the other door was two glass sliding doors and he was trying to force them open) She was getting more and more panicked but still couldn’t wake my dad up and eventually the man forced open the bedroom doors and started walking over to my mum.
