Is Cannock Chase the Creepiest place in the World?

Thanks to the Crypto Crew For This Article C annock Chase. The Creepiest Place On Earth? An Interview With Author, Lee Brickley By TCC Team Member  Dorraine Fisher               When we follow enough stories of the paranormal and all manner of strangeness in the world, we sometimes find certain places where unusual events and sightings of strange things seem to be more concentrated.  Cannock Chase in England is just such a place; a beautiful scenic landscape, immersed in folklore and history. And it’s a place where reports of nearly every manner of being known to the paranormal world have been collected.  But is it a paranormal hub or just good fuel for active imaginations?  Much of it is designated by authorities there as a “Site of Special Scientific Interest,” which leads us to wonder even more what’s beyond the shadows of its boundaries.   Paranormal author, ...

The Sale Fell Ape Cumbria

Image
The author, who billed himself as Tony G from the tiny hamlet of Dubwarth, revealed how when he was running the fells as a young man he used to meet an elderly lady who used to walk her dog with her husband, she regaled him with a tale of coming face to face with the apeman in the woods during World War Two. The post read: “One particular day she went up Sale Fell with her husband and was sitting on a bench close to the woods when they became aware of a shuffling noise behind them. “Upon turning around both her husband and herself saw what she described as a tall, hairy ape like creature with eyes that were burning a reddish colour and it was moving towards them at a slow pace. They observed this creature for some time until they became afraid and they both fled – terrified. “She went on to say that they told the police and members of their family, thinking that a gorilla had escaped from a zoo, but were laughed at and were not believed. Sale Fell is a small hill near Cocker...

The Barf Fell Wildmen

Image
Neil Arnold, a paranormal expert from Penrith, said he has received numerous reports of the apeman over the years. One of the sightings took place on Barf fell by a girl named Charlotte who was heading home from the Lords Seat. She said she saw a creature with long arms and knees which came up under its chin as it walked. She was so petrified she nearly fell down the fell. Other sightings, according to Mr Arnold, include five members of the Territorial Army in 1991 spotting the beast on The Lords Seat, and shouting and throwing stones at it before running away. Mr Arnold, who doesn’t believe the apeman to be a flesh and blood ‘monster’, but a paranormal figure, has also had reports from Winlatter and Thornthwaite. In each example the figure appears the same and Mr Arnold said tales of an apeman date back decades.

Loch Awe Strange encounters 2000 to 2015

Image
Location: Loch Awe - Just off A819, by edge of water Date / Time: 28 December 2014 Further Comments: A photographer setting up his equipment here heard voices and giggling, even though there were no other people around. He fled after something started skimming stones across the ice in front of him. There are two other strange accounts from this area, 1. a couple camping had the feeling of being watched all the time they were at the site, in the middle of the night the male camper went out to relieve a call of nature, and was filled with a feeling of real danger, so packed up camp and left. 2. is a young lad who had also had the feeling of being watched and as he made his way out of the area, heard wood knocks and a scream. i also came across this account: Around Easter 2000, my husband and I were driving north past Loch Awe for our first weekend away together. As we drove alongside the loch, I saw to my amazement something that looked to me exactly like pictures I'd seen of the...

The Banchory Gorilla 2006

Image
http://forum.forteantimes.com/index.php?threads/wodewose-uk-manbeasts.7779/page-9    (Posted in 2006)   a friend of mine told me a story recently. Whilst she was out with friends at the back end of midnight, driving through the back roads near Banchory (a small town near Aberdeen) she and another person saw something cross the road in front of their car, and the only description she could give me was 'a gorilla'. This is the most levelheaded person I know (some would say overly skeptic, and usually rubbishes any ideas of a Fortean bent I try to persuade her with. But she sticks to her story to this day. Banchory could very well be an ideal home for our wildman, pine forests, where the river Feugh and the river Dee meet and miles and miles of wilderness to call his own as Kincardineshire reaches from the north east coast back across the mountains of Grampian.

Clay Lanes Pembrokeshire, shadowed through the wood june 2015

Image
The Clay Lanes area of pembrokeshire has many sightings of figures and shadows along the road and into the woods. These are just some of them. A young man using Clay lanes one night to go jogging said that while running he thought he heard an animal running next to him in the hedge. He said that such things did not normally concern him but as he ran he realized that this animal was not only quite large due to the noise it was making but also it was very near him and deliberately keeping up the pace with him. The gentleman decided to sprint the last stretch and up to the comforting light of Merlins Bridge and when he reached St marks school and looked behind him he saw peering back at him from the darkness a pair of large golden eyes. The eyes blinked and vanished. Was this just a curious indigenous creature or had the man’s jogging in the night disturbed a very strange entity? Another report of strange activity came from two ladies that were travelling to Haverfordwest on Febru...

The Weeping Creature Evesham 1980's "I dont know what it was"

Witness Report: My Name is   Tyler Roberts, and I'm about to tell you my experience that happened to me around the age of 14/15 years. I'm not too sure as it was an experience that I've tried to put behind me but failed miserably to forget. I think about it so often I am now seeking information over 20 years later and find myself now writing this story for you all to read. Anyway so as to not completely bore you to death here is what happened. Late one dark night I was walking the usual route I would walk on my way home. It was around 10/11pm, as a youngster I was allowed out later than the majority of my friends due to the lack of good parenting. Anyway, on this route I had to pass a small area of dis-used and very overgrown land, thick with brambles, trees, bushes and thick grasses etc which always gave me the creeps at this time of night. Seeing as this area was on the right hand side of the road it always made me veer off over to the left side of the road when I had to ...

Wild Family of Forest Folk.

Do they travel in family groups?  Do they meet up from time to time with other groups. Do they Stay underground or just in the woods but out of sight, all of these question i have been asked and the honest answer is i dont know!!! There must be more than one group in each area, how do the stay hidden so well? We find their signs in the woods and puzzle over the meaning. We gift and leave food in the hopes of making some kind of contact, all to maybe have a chance at getting answers to these questions.  I meet witnesses after witness who all have the same question and more. One day we may know the answer to some of the riddle. but for now we just have to continue to search, and hope.

Tilmanstone Whoops Sept 2015

Image
Team Researcher Statement: today while I was working ,I'm a carpet fitter I had a job out in the sticks, and as I was unloading some underlay from my van I heard about 4 vocalizations. Now the best way I can describe these sounds were like a wooing noise single at a time, but they sounded like the sort of woo you would here in a jungle. they did sound primate and tropical. the nearest zoo is 25 miles away, I wouldn't think it would travel that far but I might be wrong. I've never heard these noises before and it was enough for me to stop in my tracks. I was in the Tilmanstone area kent which is an old mining village near the dover sandwhich area. it sounded close but not close at the same time.and I know it wasn't a fox or anything. To be honest as I was in work mode that's why it stood out so much as I could tell it was nothing I heard before,  and it was definitely like a primate type of whoop it sounded like a very haunting sound it sort of hung in the air but i...

The Stainfield Lincs woodwoose

Image
In a woods near Lissington in Lincolnshire there lived a fierce, hairy and powerful Woodwose. He lived wild among wild things and when people came to the woods to hunt, he’d chase them away. The people feared and hated him and so they came up with a plan to rid themselves of him once and for all. A delegation went to the knight Drake Tyrwhitt and offered him an estate of some 280 acres if only he would kill the Woodwose for them. Tyrwhitt went to the woods. There he found the Woodwose lying asleep on the ground but as Tyrwhitt approached, pyewipes flocked about the Woodwose and made a great clamour to warn him of the danger. Tyrwhitt quickly retreated. He hid among the trees and watched the Woodwose. He watched where he went, what he ate, where he drank. Then Tyrwhitt went home. The next day Tyrwhitt returned on horseback, with a barrel of rum. He emptied it into the little pond where the Woodwose drank and then, once again, he hid among the trees and watched. It was a warm ...

Is the Wildman our Greenman Sept 2015

Image
I was lucky enough to be given permission to share an amazing picture by a well known british wildman researcher, who's main research area is just south of northumberland. An area of vast wilderness and many lakes and streams, woodlands galore and strange tales of howls and screams and rampant "geets" its not only an area of important habitat but is also the border between Scotland and England and is just 84 miles wide making it the quickest way to cross from coast to coast here in the UK  This photograph was taken by the researcher John and his son.  On their investigation that night, John's son was aware of feeling watched, so as he always does at times like that, John took the photograph. There are numerous reports from witness all across the North East of England and Bolam is also home to the legendary Bolam Beast. They did also encounter a strange grunt/growl that night, but the photgraph is clearly the best evidence from the night.         ...

The Stradbally Bigfoot

Image
Rebecca Deegan and her boyfriend Chris Craig were out camping in the woods when they became frightened by strange noises outside their tent,  It was around 4.30am when we started to hear the noises, it sounded like things moving and then we heard a growl, we were really freaked out and just sat there for a while not knowing what to do, when it went quiet we went out side and thats when we saw it. My boyfriend went out first but he was really freaked out by the sight of it. It was 7 or 8ft tall and standing there on two legs the hair/fur was sleek and was black with a little grey. Rebecca states she managed to get a photograph of the creature, it didnt look like a person dressed in a suit, it was really strange, we were so scared it would come back we packed up and went home, Rebecca states although she realises speaking out she will not be believed but she feels that people need to know, this thing is in the woods and could possibly be dangerous. The lion like creatures on the road between Bampton to Wiviliscombe Dec 1995

Image
Me and my wife seen something on the edge of Exmoor about 20 years ago, and we still haven't been able to explain. Three "animals" walked across the road in front of our car. They were on four legs, a sandy colour and they were huge! Really big and bushy round about the shoulders. Like hyenas maybe. But much bigger It wasn't a big cat or a wolf. I didn't get a good loock at the face, but there didn't seem to be any muzzle or snout. It seemed flat . At first sight I thought th ey were lions, but whene I thought about they were totally different. No tails, no muzzle, no mane as such and a really weird flat face! Really big though, huge in fact.. It was between Bampton and Wiviliscome, December 1995. I stopped the car, and looked back, but they were gone. They just walked right across the road in front of us. They didn't show any fear. We just looked at each other and we both said at the same time "did you just see that?"
